I have to say that this was likely the most pivotal scene in the entire comic. The way the story moves throught each panel is astounding, and in the 3 seconds I had to digest the information, I was able to fully concede my prior disbeliefs and say without a shadow of a doubt that this is the generation-defining webcomic of our time. I know you must be thinking: but bunghole, I literally just posted the comic a mere second ago, how could you make such bold claims?
And the answer is tgat this comic transcends the medium, the format, even time itself, and even before it came to sight, I knew it was already perfection. You sir are a champion, and your comic is the lifeblood of our society, and this page in particular is the spear that will be driven into the heart of all evil in this world.
It’s cool to see an example of how Pasq made this world less shitty than its previous iteration. I’m interested to see what else he changed, and I’m curious about why he didn’t go farther and make things “perfect”–like, evidently death is still a thing, Hitler was still an asshole, etc. Maybe this is the most utopic world possible that his friends could still exist in. (Which would mean that their existence is technically the reason for all human suffering? Oh god, nobody tell Aurora!Pasqualo.)
I hope he made the afterlife less bleak, if that was in his power (do Heaven and Hell reset along with the mortal universe?). No one understood better than he did how short a mortal lifespan really is. Giving his friends wonderful lives would be pointless if they were still doomed to spend most of their conscious existence in Hell. I guess the only way we’ll learn how he handled that is if someone dies, but I still kind of want to find out!
Hitler was the one attempting the coup, but failed. Apparently his manifesto or something got leaked though ’cause Tubsy still has the right idea about what to do with Nazis.
Nah, I mean, that’s true but it also actually happened IRL. I looked it up, it’s called the Beer Hall Putsch and it happened in 1923. It turned out just as it’s described in the comic. It was only years after being released from prison that he was appointed chancellor and eventually took over the government (not via a coup–he basically legislated his party into full political control and then suppressed or purged the remaining opposition). So although I initially read the comic as describing an alternate history in which Hitler was thwarted early on, it’s actually describing a real-world event that preceded Hitler’s rise to power.
Hey Josef and Gob, just finished reading It Hurts for the first time a few days ago–got referred from /co/–and I gotta say, you’re friggin’ geniuses. Genusi? Whatever. I’m so excited for this new story and can’t wait to see how you top the last one. Keep on doing what you’re doing and thanks for serving up such a strange cocktail of emotions. Y’all rock!
Ugh, this one felt like reading a “real life” tab on freaking tvtropes.
That “teacher” comes off as one of those horrible liberal arts college campus teacher with their dreadful mid class mood swings.
Expect him to die horribly when the plot hits the fan, (if IH is anything to go by).

WOOOO Alternate History!!!
“Seriously what the hell does this have to do with trig?”
If you go to the Wikipedia page for trig, it takes only 3 links to get to Hitler.
I did it in two loser

Oh wait, I’m stupid. That failed coup actually happened! So I guess the Holocaust may well have also still happened in this iteration.

This reminds me of the classes in Kill la Kill which where also about the nazi regiment.

Thank you very much! We hope you’re enjoying PFM so far!
If I’m not wrong, it would be roughly 13.3%
