The short answer is that I’ve had gradually less and less time to draw over the years, unfortunately. This is also the reason I’ve (hopefully gracefully) switched from color to black and white. My art has been pretty much always just been a fun hobby that I do in my limited spare time. I’d love to do this full-time, but I’ve got to be realistic.
To add a bit more, Josef originally wanted PFM to be 4koma from the very very beginning. I had a lot of doubt with this idea and pushed for longer form comics. I enjoyed the freedom that came with choosing the length of each comic, pretty much.
I forget exactly what was going on in my life around the time of the Dorito Arc, but it was hectic. Thing is, drawing these comics in (mostly) 4koma format since then has been a lot of fun. It’s a fun challenge to do as much as I can with the 4-panel limitation. As it turns out, my favorite PFM comics are the 4koma ones. Maybe we should have done this from the start, lol.
I thought that might be it. I found the looser style of organising strips more fun and dynamic for storytelling, but I fully understand why 4koma works better for you. Reading PFM brings me comfort, and I would say that counts as enjoyment, so thank you.
I didn’t laugh (at the comic).
I did get a light chuckle from the title. (lie).
Is there a reason that almost every strip has been in the 4koma style since the Dorito arc?

Hopefully, you’ve been enjoying these 🙂
