Oh no. I’m starting to think Terry might not be a good person.
Terry’s big problem has always been that he thinks he’s a good person, evidence-be-damned.
Unveiling thing? This is gonna turn out bad.
Melanie (Hi!) seems like a sweet gal but she’s shacking up with a serial killer and she enabled a situation where a pregnant girls’ father got brutally ultramurdered in front of her and also sent Pasqualo into a living nightmare coma during which time her father also got regularmurdered (I guess the difference is academic). I’m not saying she’s responsible for all these things but so far like 2, possibly 3 fathers have turned up dead near her. One moment.. what’s that? *listens in earpiece* I’m being reminded Melanie’s own father may have disappeared under mysterious circumstances?
Oh hey, the serial killer is doing that “breaking the fourth wall” thing where a psychopath justifies his psychopathy by dismissing other people as mere characters instead of persons.
That just seemed like a joke, maybe a self deprecating one.
I don’t think Special Agent Terry Gross (No Relation), just sees people as mere characters. I think Terry genuinely cares about Melanie. And he chose to reassure Pasqualo that she wasn’t a murderer.
Of course, he’s a serial killer, and we don’t know how twisted his sense of care may be.

Okay, having just reread this entire series, I have a few questions about stuff.
1. I feel like this might have been definitively established somewhere, but does PFM Jennifer have some knowledge of the fact that this Pasqualo is an artificial copy (sort of)? She often refers to Pasqualo by the more definitively male name Pascal and makes offhand references to events that only happened in It Hurts, so I feel like this may be a possibility. Does Jennifer have this omniscient knowledge due to being a resurrection of someone who was erased from existence by God, or was it something else?
2: What’s up with Pasqualo’s romance life? I was talking about it with some of my friends who also read this comic and one of them brought of the interesting point that Pasqualo, since she has of Aurora’s consciousness than It Hurts!Pasqualo, could only be capable of being romantically interested in the Pasqualo from It Hurts, a person who does not exist and therefore causes her to fall into a kind of romance spiral. This could explain her lack of romantic feelings for Charlotte (who didn’t do anything sketchy until Pasqualo rejected her,) but does kind of hit a roadblock when you assume that Pasqualo was also in love with Katie. My friend tried to justify this by saying that this Pasqualo is more Aurora than the OG Pasqualo, and so has less romantic feelings for Katie, but we’ve never seen any confirmation that PFM Pasqualo ISN’T in love with Katie.
3: Where are Harmony and Chaos, as well as God and Satan? I’m guessing Harmony and Chaos are just watching this whole thing unfold (maybe they have some Uatu the Watcher things going on and can’t intervene with humanity unless humanity comes to them), but Satan (and, to a lesser extent, God) constantly interacted with It Hurts Pasqualo. If Satan is presumably omni-knowledgeable, shouldn’t he be aware of what happened when Pasqualo overwrote the universe? If he’s less powerful than Harmony and Chaos, did he get reincarnated in a human form (like, mayhaps, Anthunny Weissbrot?)
4: Did all of the PFM-exclusive characters exist in the It Hurts timeline? Was Terry Gross doing stuff during the apocalypse, or did he even exist at all?
5: What does any of this have to do with Wackyland? I get that Wackyland is a Devilman parody that turns into an FLCL parody and then becomes a meditation on the nature of art, but since Terry Gross (or at the very least a variant of him) appears in Wackyland, does it take place in the same universe? (I’m also assuming Guts and Casca Go On A Food Tour is not canon to It Hurts/PFM).
6: Okay, last one. Is Terry Gross some sort of god being? This is probably connected to a later plot point or just plain wrong, but he originated in a series where several characters had god powers (I.E., Wackyland), seems to be aware of the fourth wall (if he’s not just insane), and seems to have some degree of superhuman durability.
I can answer 1 and 6. The rest I’ll leave to Josef if he feels up to answering them.
1. Jen doesn’t have any memories of It Hurts. I don’t think anyone does. That world and those people are gone. In It Hurts, Dad attempted to name Pasqualo “Pascal,” but barfed and out came “Pasqualo,” so they wrote that down. Now that I’m a dad and I know that this isn’t how that works, I’m gonna double down on this because it’s funnier. In Please Forgive me, I think either 2 things are possible. Maybe Jen knows about the Pascal / Pasqualo barf story? Maybe she just didn’t bother to remember Pasqualo’s name and just calls her “Pascal” because she doesn’t give a shit.
6. Terry Gross (as he’s called now) is just a regular shitty person. He came from a universe/comic series where he could literally charm his way through any situation, but eventually he ventured too far and met his maker. Through some… process that I’d rather not explain, he ended up in this universe/comic series.
2.) personally I dont see pfm pasqualo as a combination of it hurts pasqualo and aurora. I see it as aurora (a version of her), put in the “character slot” of pasqualo. but thats just my interpretation, and that illustrates why I hesitate to answer questions like these because I don’t wanna cut off people’s personal interpretations. as for pasqualo’s romantic life, maybe she’s just a late bloomer?
3.) we can assume the deal with the cosmic characters is probably the same, although the degree to which harmony and chaos are actual “characters” and not just IH!! pasqualo’s way of processing a truly incomprehensible cosmic mechanism is somewhat up for debate. I wonder if someone else “got to the end” they would have had a very different experience? anyway, gob asked me when he was drawing if he could make these two random characters look like god and satan and I said “sure as long as its subtle”
4.) nah, not all of em. this universe has a relatively different history than the last one. different people are gonna end up being born, etc. on the other hand, if you’re a character pasqualo met in it hurts!! there’s a pretty good chance you exist in please forgive me!!!
5.)gob can handle this one better than me I think

5. The comics featured in Wackyland don’t necessarily have any connection with anything else. Those are separate series and I consider them to be separate universes. The one exception is that Josef really liked the murderer character and wanted him in PFM, so I granted him passage from his series to this one… somehow.
I’m hoping for a happy ending where Melanie melts Terry Gross’ (No Relation) ice-cold heart and causes him to redeem himself in the end, but that probably won’t happen. At least I hope Melanie doesn’t get hurt.
