My fave part is Pasqy trying to punch the giant demon puppo off of her….he’s getting back to his old badass self even if he has the fighting prowess of a small toddler with polio atm
In two days I read this from beginning to end after remembering that I had stopped somewhere around page 150, years ago. I can proudly say it was absolutely, wonderfully worth it, and that I’m so glad you’ve killed every character I ever loved. It hurts, but in a good way.
So I know you have more or less the entire comic vaguely mapped out, but how far ahead do you actually write out and storyboard your comics in a “ready to be drawn” fashion? Do you write out the details of the weekly comics the day you set out to draw them, or do you have them written out weeks or months ahead?
Basically, when do you go from “Whis is vaguely where I want to be in the story” to “this is EXACTLY what happens” in relation to the weeks you actually draw them?
It’s actually a bit rare that I do any kind of storyboarding or actual writing, even as I’m drawing a comic itself. Writing actual spoken dialogue is what I do last. I draw the panels before I know precisely what the characters are saying. Most of my ideas are just floating around inside my head and my friend Josef’s head because I run a lot of my ideas by him to make sure they’re not stupid.
I storyboarded the battle rap between Mom and Pasq because Josef was writing the rap in that one. I storyboarded a few of the birthday party comics just because I was nervous at how complex they may or may not be and wanted to assure myself they would be doable.
In terms of story arcs, this one has been planned out probably in more detail than I’ve ever planned anything else out. And that’s because I’m approaching the climax of the series and I want to make sure I do all the things I set out to do haha.
But my plans look like this:
430
-“Argument” between Katie and Pasq. Not really an argument but Pasq’s depression flares up again and Pasq says something along the lines of “Aurora was the only one who could ever make me happy!” or something really inconsiderate. Katie assures him that she doesn’t hate him when he’s depressed, but she likes to see him strong and knows he has it in him. And that no matter what, he’s a sweet, stupid idiot and she’s never going to give up on him. Pasq is like “WAAHHH!! YOU’RE TOO GOOD FOR ME AND ONCE YOU REALIZE THAT YOU’RE GONNA LEAVE ME!!” Ally’s like “I got this.” Katie says “thanks.”
-Ally drags Pasqualo away.
431
-Katie, family, the rest all chat then go their separate ways (to their rooms). Katie and her family fly away on Partyman to explore. Show some neat aerial shots. Don’t be lazy.
-In this one, make sure to touch base with everyone. Rutherford, Bartleby, Jones, Eliza, etc. There’s a chance this could be some peeps’ last appearance.
**Michiko & Husbands & Baby: “We’re here too!”
432
-Ally and Pasq’s trek down the streets of Hell. They’re on their way to Tubsy. Lots of scenery. Very dreary. Ally notices a hot dog place opening up “in 2 days” and she looks at it, smiling happily. There are both people and demons and “devil guys” walking down the streets. This comic ends with Ally, who’s nervous about seeing Tubsy again. She asks Pasq how she looks. Pasq reassures her, maybe spiffying her up a bit. He says something like “Dude you look fuckin cute as shit” or something. Ally smiles, then they walk around a corner.
433
-Tubsy, Ally, and Poop reunion. They’re all very happy to see each other again. Pasq smiles at Tubsy.
-Tubsy is a big strong devil dude. Poop has a gigantic fierce wolf body but his stupid little head.
So to answer your question, it becomes “exactly what I want” after I draw it. 😉
Huh. That’s one way to do it. That’s not bad, either; having done some shitty comics in my own time, I found dialog to be a bit of a controlling factor for layout and presentation, and I never thought “fuck it, I’ll figure out dialog later” would be a viable option.
AHHHHHHH Poop holy shit!!! I’m so happy!!
don’t you mean unholy poop?
im digging tubsy’s new getup

Fucking this.
aaawwwwwwww ;^:
So Tubsy guarding a stairway to heaven?
Now, I’m not a furry and I’m definitely not gay, but I totally want Tubsy to tame me like a foul beast and ride me all night long.
Holy shit is Tubsy a metal viking? He only needs lasers and glowy bits and shit to go full techno viking.

Wow thank you so much!! 😀
And then Hell exploded.
This is some good shit right here.
I found and read this goddamn thing in a single night, and I loved every second. Keep up the good work, Gob.
Holy shit! Thank you thank you thank you!! 😀
No problem. I’d totally give to your patreon, but I’m a little tight on funds.

Wait, wait
So the whole space rhino thing blowing up the earth wasn’t the climax!!!??
It was *a* climax but not the final climax of the series 😉

why is tubsy now the taurus demon from the undead burg
You know, besides the random bursts of hellfire here and there, Hell seems surpringly non-hellish of a place, truth to be told.
He’s back. I can leave now.
Tubsy was too much of a bad dude to be a mortal in hell. He got an upgrade.
Did Tubsy become a fucking demonlord of some sort? Fucker was gangsta as hell alive, but damn, he is something else entirely now.
Whoa goddamn, looks like Poop got the Maddie treatment, too.
Yo Gob, think you can hook me up with some of that timeskip swoleness?
Just gotta bench press them bulldozers bro.
I think I know what’s going to happen next
Stairway to heaven, the return of Obtusangelo is at hand i love that led zeppelin wearing bastard
My money’s on Mr. Trianglini being the only one that made it to heaven.
Nah, man, you think Trianglini didn’t touch his ding dong? He even mentions a stack of pornography-filled CD-Rs in one of the comics.
