Nah, she was fine until probably ’round the time trisssh’s mother killed her mother and then moved in + imagine living under the same roof with trisssh and not being some powerful being (power = respect or else you’re thrash in trisssh’s world/view (though the same applies to anywhere/everywhere to differing degrees) and unless you either have power or hold a position of power in the social ladder, you’ll get brutal treatment from her by default).
Maddie was also fine (a bit jumpy, understandably) in the post-apocalyptic world back in IH, till she met cyborg boy & zombie girl, the latter who thought about eating her whole family and the former who took her blue pony figurine through flexing his robopowers, after that, spending some time as IH’s trisssh’s pupil made her more brutal.
(TL;DR – trisssh is the reason why she’s like that and she’s either playing dumb and doesn’t want to recognize it, or genuinely has catch’d on how she’s been influencing maddie because “gorgonz can’t comprehend feeble human psychology”)
