Hey Gob, been wondering something for a bit and am hoping you could give some possible insight. It seems to me that Pasqualo in the current comic is much different than the Pasqualo in the previous one. I was kind of just wondering the reasons for it. I pretty much assume that it has to do with this Pasqualo being a merger of Aurora and Psaqualo’s personalities as well as them being older, and possibly her being a girl having some influence. I also assume your form of humor might have evolved also and subsequently is reflected here. Sexual-themed humor and vulgarity have always been ever-present in your work, which I admire as you’ve seemingly retained the ability to keep it fresh, but in the current comic it seems this Pasqualo is much cleaner and innocent this time around with the more chaotic aspects being present moreso in her environment and people around her than herself whereas with the initial Pasqualo he was always the butt of masturbation/sexual jokes or humor about his sometimes overtly vulgar personality.
Love your work as well as you and whomever assists you. Keep the hype train chugging buddy.
Hi there! That is a very good observation. Yes, this Pasqualo is a lot different than the IT HURTS one.
There are a few reasons for this.
1) As sort of a starting point, this is essentially Aurora born into Pasqualo’s “spot” in life, looking very Pasqualoish, too. That’s because she’s the new Pasqualo! But yeah, both me and Josef used Aurora as a starting point with this Pasqualo’s personality.
2) This time around, my best bud Josef is the main writer of the series. Back when I was working on IT HURTS, I both wrote and drew it, with Josef as “editor” (he’d tell me if I needed to write funnier jokes) and co-developer of the main story. He wrote a handful of comics too, including #475, the final comic. Pasqualo in IT HURTS was sort of a self-insert and I used him to make fun of myself a lot. In PLEASE FORGIVE ME, Josef puts a lot of himself into Pasqualo.
So with Aurora as a starting point and Josef’s development of her character, she became someone who isn’t quite Aurora and isn’t quite the old Pasqualo. But she’s her own unique, different person.
It took me a while to understand PLEASE FORGIVE ME’s Pasqualo to the point where I felt comfortable writing her myself, when I take a turn writing things in the comic. From what I understand of this Pasqualo is she enjoys dirty humor too. To be Ally’s friend, you sort of have to. I think maybe this Pasqualo is a bit shy about being the one to crack the sexual / dirty jokes, but she probably wouldn’t be shy about laughing at them, especially if Ally was the one making the jokes.
Anyway, I hope that makes sense. Thank you for reading!
Thank you so much for replying. I love the effort you guys have put into developing this comic and it’s good to know that it’s become a split job between you and Josef. Now I suppose us readers will have a bit of fun trying to guess which of you wrote what portion.
It’s Love.
