Hey Laitharex, I noticed you’ve been reading my comics for a long time and I’d like to take a moment to clear a few things up. I think you’re a bit confused.
First of all, the comics aren’t going to be changed. They’re still there as they were.
After redrawing the first one, I felt a little weird about the “d**e” joke in there. I stopped using slurs like “f****t,” “n****r,” and other similar words after comic 61: http://gobolatula.com/ithurts/?comic=061-sensitivity
No, my wife didn’t make me do this. I came to this decision on my own after a conversing with a few gay friends of mine who love my comic and weren’t offended by my saucy language, but they felt uncomfortable sharing my comic with some of their friends. My first reaction to this was, “Come on, I don’t mean “f****t” like “I hate gay people” f****t!” Then after lots of sitting and thinking some more, I realized I could be hurting people. It’s pretty much what Pasqualo says in panel 3 of the “Sensitivity” comic minus the boasty self-importance (God I hope).
I’m not trying to say I’m a “better” person by not using those words in my comic anymore and I don’t judge people who do use those words.
And when I said that I was thinking of changing the joke in the first comic, I meant it because that thought honestly crossed my mind. I was a different person when I started this comic. But that’s sort of the point.
I realized if I took out all the times I used offensive words in the beginning, the comic wouldn’t work. I can’t change it. It’s done and it’s there. It’s part of who Pasqualo, Ally & friends are. They’re little fucking dirtbags. If I could go back and do things differently, yeah, maybe I would. That’s just how I feel.
I hope that clears some stuff up, man. I’m really happy to hear that my comic helped you during a rough time in your life. Trust me, that is one huge compliment. And I hope that even if we may disagree, you keep reading. After all, I’m just doing this silly thing to amuse myself and others.
So long the comic never has the word “womyn” in it unironically we’re probably fine. Not spouting off racist/homophobic/transphobic/sexist slurs isn’t the same as the comic abandoning all gendered pronouns in case someone really wants to be referred to as xe/xem/xeir.
It honestly works out. A lot of the comic is about shitty people trying to be less shitty, and it’s not like the comic’s any less vulgar (Ally loves watching her some japanese students committing suicide). It’s just less likely to attract /pol/’s attention and sympathy.
